Romantic venue hire

HiAccommodation Lorne there, okay, so I’ve been looking for quite a while now for the perfect place to propose to my girlfriend, and, well, I think I’ve come to the conclusion that there is not perfect place. It doesn’t exist out there in the wild, so my best bet is to try and make it myself.

Now look, I know that I’m a bit of a hopeless romantic, and that I’ve always envisioned proposing on a calm evening by the ocean, preferably on a cliff, with the sun setting majestically in the background, but maybe that’s just not practical. It’s unlikely that I’m ever going to find the perfect place, so why not try my hand at orchestrating it? Here’s my thinking. I find a really nice venue, hire out a large room with a window out to the ocean, and place a table for two in the very centre. I make the setting extremely romantic, fill the room with roses and candles and all that jazz, and organise wait staff to bring us a three course meal of all her and my favourite dishes. At the very end of the night, I propose.

Romantic, eh? The only problem is, I’m not really sure where that place should be. I have a vague notion that we should go away, perhaps on a three day weekend or something, but then it becomes really important where we stay. Should the venue be a part of the accommodation, or separate to it? Which sounds better? Should we go on a seaside escape to the ocean or a reclusive retreat to a winery nestled amongst the hills? I know that she spent a lot of her childhood in Lorne, but I’m not even sure if winter would be a good time to get accommodation in Lorne. Victoria can get pretty cold at this time of year, particularly along the coast, and the Otways are famous for the amount of rain they get from May through to August. I’m just so unsure!
