Finding My Perfect Place

buildingsHouse hunting is a pain in the neck, and also in the jaw on occasion because you end up ringing so many estate agents and giving the same details over and over again. I should’ve just recorded my yearly salary, contact number and address and played them back whenever they asked for them. Combine all the legwork involved in driving from place to place and it just ends up being a huge waste of time.

I mean, I’ve heard that Melbourne has buyers advocates and they can be pretty good at their jobs, but something within me says that I shouldn’t be getting someone else to do my work for me. It’s a weird thought, because that’s how society works. I didn’t grow the wheat that went into my cereal this morning, and neither did I buy and cow and milk it. I bought those things from a supermarket. I don’t make my own clothes or service my own car. Getting a property advocate to do that stuff for you is just another example of the same basic principle. I suppose it’s just that it’s not as common. Most people actually go and buy houses and just try to wade through the paperwork because they think that’s normal. Maybe it is…and yeah, it’s more common, but I’m talking about a house that costs in the millions. I can’t afford to just stumble in blindly and make a huge mistake. Millions,  tell you!

Maybe I can make things easier for myself. I don’t mind cutting down hours and hours of work into just a few meetings, and if I can find a property advocate around Melbourne who shares my unique tastes…maybe it’s the right option?
