Break Downs Getting Us Down

Our car is a magnet for trouble. Seems like every day it finds new and interesting ways to break down. Yesterday it was steam pouring out of the engine on the freeway. The week before, my wife and I had to leap out of the car as flames began to burns around the rim. It’s always something. And when you’re standing by the side of the road with four bored/fighting/screaming kids, waiting for the Adelaide towing services to pull you to relative civilisation. We’re almost on first-name basis with most of the people who do towing around here. In fact, I’m pretty sure I could drive a tow truck, along with the loading and docking. With how many times I’ve seen it happen…
Anyway, we need to do something. We can’t afford a new car, but if this one breaks down we’ll be stuck in woop-woop with four kids who need to be in four different places at once (sometimes, at least). So this is a problem.
I’m thinking we need to invest in some bikes. That way, if the car finally fails for the last time, we can at least get some exercise out of the whole thing. And I know there are plenty of hills, because I’ve often used them in a desperate attempt to fire up the engine.
I just don’t think I can take another helping of waiting by the side of the road for the tow truck, with all of Adelaide laid out before us with their working vehicles. This has to stop.
