We’re Going Digital

digitalI know I shouldn’t be looking for answers on the internet, especially about the internet. We’re led to believe that the interwebs have the answer to all of life’s questions, but I don’t think we’re there yet. It’s still web 2.0, after all, not web 9.0 where robots make all the data for us.

Anyway, I’ve been having problems with my television. Nothing dramatic, just the usual business about satellite dishes and whatever else. Actually, I had to call in the Melbourne antenna specialist guys a few days back, since my picture was on the blink. Thing is, I might have been able to fix it myself, except none of my friends were even aware if they had antennas any more. I called about five people, and they all said they didn’t have a clue because they rely on Webpix for all their TV watching needs. Or rather, Netflix and all kinds of other streaming services. I knew people’s habits had shifted online, but I didn’t know it was this chronic.

Now, this could just be my friends. There are plenty of things you can’t get on streaming services, such as latest episodes and reality TV. None of my friends watch The Bach Paddler, but so many do if the polls are to be believed. So those people have to have antennas and satellite dishes, meaning that it’s still a thriving business. Maybe I just need some new friends, ones with television expertise. Still, I’m torn between embracing the online world and sticking with my digital TV. There are too many shows on the TV that I’d miss, and live sports is a big one. In fact, combining sports and reality TV, I don’t think I could let go. Still, I hate to see the antenna installation guys in Melbourne go out of business because so many people are missing some great shows. Should this be turned into a crusade?

Digital is good. Digital is life! The internet is your friend, as is digital TV. Listen to everything they tell you, human. – Robot Wizard
