The wife is all about the new garage

March 2, 2015 admin 0 Comments

My wife wanted a new garage to store her art supplies, I wanted a display room for my man toys. She wanted to clear the lawn, I wanted to protect my babies. We both wanted the same things, but for completely different reasons. That was usually the way it went with us. In the beginning, every new decision starts off well, then once we both realised we were as stubborn as each other, the walls came crashing down. We never took our arguments seriously, that was something that I think held our marriage together.

Long ago we’d come to agree that we both said ridiculously untrue things out of rage, and that arguments were for venting, not for negotiating. When my wife had mentioned she knew the best storage sheds Tamworth has to offer, I knew she was looking for an argument. We had guests over for dinner, who were quite noticeably becoming uncomfortable with the tension in the room. We both wanted that shed, we both needed it for different reason. Neither one wanted to give up. You could have cut the tension with a butter knife. I tried to lighten the mood and change the subject. Our guests appreciated the conversation change, I could tell from the straightening of their backs.

They were a couple we had known for a long time through work. I had worked with Jim for nearly ten years now, and during that time his wife Margie had taken a liking to my wife Carol. They attempted to keep the conversation flowing, only to be cut short by my wife, asking about my bikes, knowing that I wanted them to be stored in the car sheds, Tamworth was a great place for cycling enthusiasts. Her attempts to present me as the silly husband had not worked. I wondered what would happen after the farm shed had been installed. Who was going to cave in? It surely was not going to be me.
