The Perfect Birthday Venue

I get it, sometimes it’s okay to ask for help. Actually, it’s always okay to ask for help. But still, when it comes to matters of family, I feel like I should be doing everything myself.
My parents both have their birthday on the same day, which means that organising the event becomes…easier? Well, a little bit. It means we always remember, and we don’t have to organise two things per year. Still, they’re very different people. The only way they unite is in their mutual love of card games.
We recently found the most wonderful birthday venue in all of Melbourne. It had a giant wooden table, large enough for two people to stand across and look dramatic while playing card games, but not quite so thick that people won’t be able to see each other’s cards. We looked long and hard to find this one function room with everything we needed, and finally, we did. The table was perfect. They even had adjustable lights above the table, so that we could turn them on really important cards. Like a spotlight, you see. For several years in a row, organising a birthday party for Mum and Dad was so easy. We’d ask if they wanted the usual, and they’d confirm. There was nowhere better for card games in the entire city, or perhaps the entirety of Australia. We had found the ultimate card game arena!
And then…there was a fire. We heard about it on the news. No one was hurt, but we were devastated to find that the table had been burned to ashes. Not even a leg remained. Perhaps it was arson, rival card game enthusiasts. But now we must find another birthday party venue, one with another table. But it won’t be the same. We can never reclaim the same amount of card game glory. Are there any venues for hire in Melbourne that can give us the ultimate arena we seek??
