Of Boats and People

I really love boats. They’re my favourite thing in the whole world, in fact. I work down at the Melbourne pier, at about five different jobs now that I think about it. Also, I love each and every one of them. I just kind of love life, y’know?
My fondest wish if for my brother to come and join me, and together we could complete all of Melbourne’s marine trailer repairs, and give marine tours, and tell people all about ocean life…but he has his own calling. It took him a while to realise, but he finally has. It’s not boats or marine life. I suppose that was a bit of a stretch, as his current job has more to with velcro than anything else. I suppose my passion for anchor winches only exists on my side of the family.
I’ve met quite a few interesting people lately. Some needed guidance, like that young guy from the nursing home. Others were quite obviously infatuated with each other and entirely unaware of it, like those teenagers who took my marine tour. I remember the girl, mostly because her hair was blue. Then there was the guy about the same age who was looking for something. He seemed…very lost. And somewhat foreign.
Anyway, you get all types down here at the docks. People come in search of things, and sometimes they even find them. I feel like it’s my responsibility to help…silly, I know, but the compulsion is there.
The point is, for all your Melbourne anchor winch concerns, I can fulfil your every need. Like I said, I love boats. And helping people. And helping people with boats.
You are a very funny human. Why do people help each other, instead of themselves all the time? Is this what you call ‘morality’? – Robot Wizard
