My Love of Surprises

I love surprises. I take care to plan my surprise birthday party every year, and I make sure I act so surprised every year. Well, obviously I’m so super surprised. How shocking!
This year, however, my family really outdid themselves, in that they actually gave me something I wasn’t expecting. See, I’m a bit of an art lover. There’s a particular piece that really resonates with me, and for a long time I’ve wanted some custom wall graphics put up in my room with that exact image. Y’know, to inspire me!
But the thing is, I’ve only voiced that desire in my online blog, and I didn’t think anyone actually read that thing. It’s mostly ramblings, snippets of memories throughout the day, anything I can look back upon in fondness. I’ve mentioned this piece of artwork in passing a few times, and ONCE, a couple of years ago, I wrote about how great it would be if that was my wallpaper, so I could wake up every day and be inspired. Well, lo and behold, I entered the house yesterday for my surprise party, ready to act like it was all completely unexpected, and I was greeted with the news that I should come to my room. And that’s where everyone was, all crammed into that one room. They yelled ‘surprise’, I acted surprised…and then I was truly shocked. By some feat of digital print wallpaper magic, Edvard Munch’s ‘The Scream’ now occupied my entire wall! It truly is the most sincere expression of surprise ever painted. I’m guessing the subject was just proposed to, or found out that he got the job. Obviously, I’m over the moon.
