Irrational rubbish removal plans

hard rubbish to be collectedHaving someone come to my house and take away all of the things I love is not my idea of fun. Although she had a point, I thought my mother was being a little radical. To be fair on my mother, I was a thirty year old man who was still living at home. I had never moved out, never really had a job, and no real friends. I was someone who liked to build things, I tinker. Mechanics was what I was interested in, but after being steered away from a career in engineering, I’d basically given up on everything else. Over the years, my collection of scrap metal, wrecking parts and car bodies had grown large. It had come to the point where members of the public were knocking on my mother’s door, asking to buy something from her wreckers. I thought it was a great idea, and that we should have let the people in to buy some parts, but Mum refused.

I guess that was what had started this whole fiasco. My mother had been ranting around the house, yelling and screaming about the rubbish in her yard, and how she wished her son would move out. It was hurtful hearing her say those things, but not as hurtful as hearing her inquire about a rubbish collection in Canberra. Without even talking to me about it, my mother walked into the kitchen, picked up the phone and dialed the number for the waste removalists. I heard her confirm the appointment time for Canberra hard rubbish collection. As she hung up the phone she glared in my direction daring me to say anything, I kept my mouth shut. I wondered what was going to happen now to my collection. I’d never seen my mother this angry before. I wasn’t sure what to do. The first thing I had to do was sort out and hide anything I wanted to keep before the rubbish removers arrived.
