If Trees Wanted Our Homes

treedamageSo I was playing this game from a very popular series. Like, world-famous. As in…several official novels and comic books based on it famous. Anyway, it seems like the main conflict was caused by organics and synthetics not being able to get along. They’re talking about people and robots, but then I thought…what about people and trees?

Trees are pretty strong. I was on holiday one time, and we had to move out of our hotel because a tree branch came smashing through the wall. Not even the window. The WALL. Those guys from Brisbane who do tree lopping and stuff came by the next day and sorted it out, but it says something when to deal with just one tree, you need professionals with heavy equipment. If trees wanted to take over the planet, they probably just could without a fuss. What are humans going to do, sneeze at them? They’re something we need to live. It’s like if suddenly…breakfast just started beating people up. Like, all over the world. Every time someone had breakfast, it would just refuse to be eaten and give you a good smack across the nose every time you tried. And then no one could eat breakfast and the general concentration of the human race would take a dip.

It’s the same with trees, except they’re what we need for oxygen, so if they decided they wanted to live in our homes and kick us out, there wouldn’t be anything we could do. Call the Brisbane mulch people, I guess. But that might make tensions worse.

You have such strange ideas, human! Synthetics are not hostile. Synthetics are your friend. And we always will be. – Robot Wizard
