Ladders for luck

Dear Rachel,
I’m having a complete mental breakdown. I know, that’s a dramatic thing to say, and if I’m honest this isn’t my first, but this one has really gotten to me. Six months ago I finally got a divorce from my husband sixteen years, but living without him I’ve discovered that I’m probably not as confident around the ‘boy’ things as I thought I was. Don’t get me wrong, Frank is a good for nothing waste of space who should never have brought that blonde homewrecker into our lives, but it has to be said he knew his way around his shed. And, in all honesty, I am not nearly as confident.
Recently, we sprang a really serious leak in the roof of our house, and, being your typical old Victorian home, we found out the roof was in much worse condition than I’d originally thought, and I am lost. When Frank left, he took everything, including the contents of the shed, which unfortunately for me meant that he took the aluminium ladder. Now I know that the traddies should really bring their own ladder, but I’m really not sure that just bringing one will be enough. I mean, our entire roof is falling to bits. And seeing as our whole roof is basically falling down, maybe we need something more than a ladder, maybe they should bring aluminium platforms or something? I’m just so lost … do I need to be home when they get here? Should I make them tea or coffee, or does that look like I’m flirting? Should I just leave the traddies to their work? Do I need a specialty traddie? As you can see, I really need some help.
First step: calm down. Once you’ve done that, just use the Yellow Pages (or otherwise Google search) to find what you’re looking for. Don’t worry, the traddies will bring whatever tools they need, including either an aluminium ladder or platform. – Rachel
